But the worst of all was the betrayal. Summer of 1959 in Grösitz: Friends Ruth and Christa are enjoying their last vacation before graduation. One evening, while swimming in the nearby stream, they meet Erich, who belongs to a group of free-church Christians that has set up camp there. A welcome change for the girls, who then spend a lot of time at the campsite. But then both of them fall in love with Erich. And the fate of the friends changes forever - in a dramatic way.
