Andreas H. Schmachtl, born in 1971, studied art, German studies, and English studies in Oldenburg. He spends a significant amount of his time in England, where the ideas for his books are born. It is no coincidence that they mainly focus on hedgehogs, mice, and other small creatures, whose protection and preservation are particularly important to him. Since 2007, he has been illustrating and writing exclusively for Arena Verlag.
