The psychotherapist Robin Davis receives a call just before a session that completely throws her off balance. Her sister Melanie, with whom she hasn't been in contact for years, informs her that someone has brutally shot her father, his new wife Tara, and their twelve-year-old daughter. Tara succumbs to her injuries shortly thereafter. Still in shock, Robin sets off for her hometown. She realizes that there are many people who would have a reason to hate her father and Tara - not least her own family. But what kind of monster shoots at a twelve-year-old?.
