Black ink - I'm looking for a replacement for our canon pixma... which only prints streaks after 2 years... does it make sense as a photo AND office printer?? it only has a relatively modest black tank.... after 2 canon devices i definitely want another supplier... the "longevity" of the canon devices is just disappointing for me... but is this one recommended for frequent document printing?
I have had the printer for exactly one year now, but I print larger jobs on a b/w laser printer. I therefore use the Epson XP-960 mainly for colour printing or when I need to print large formats (A3). However, in the event of a temporary breakdown of the laser printer, the Epson XP-960 has performed well even with increased print volumes. I use the XL ink tanks, these cartridges last longer.
If you print a lot and want to get away from Canon, you should take a closer look at the Epson Ecotank ET-7700. According to the printer test of the magazine c't (23/2017) from the Heise publishing house, this device is recommended for frequent printers:
"...If you print a lot and don't want to worry about ink, spend just under 600 euros on the Epson Ecotank ET-7700 and have peace of mind for the next few years..."
And the test conclusion:
"...Anyone who wants to edit photos and print them out in good quality is well advised to go with the Canon Pixma TS8150 multifunction devices and the Epson models Expression Photo XP-8500 and Ecotank ET-7700. The robust Ecotank can easily keep up with the two six-colour printers and prints at an unbeatable price.
but is only worthwhile for frequent printers..."
Disadvantage from my point of view: The Epson ET-7700 cannot print A3... and is of course much more expensive to buy. But the ET-7700 is cheaper to run if you have a high print volume.
