It depends on the size of your picture/art vs. size of frame. If your picture / art is smaller than your frame, then a Passepartout helps to fill out the empty space. If your picture/art is the exact size as the frame and it fits snuggly without leaving any unwanted spaces then you can get away with not inserting a Passepartout. However, the Passepartout serves many purposes for your framed pictures/art, as follows:
- provides a more clean and elegant finish
- makes small pictures/art appear larger, i.e use a much larger frame for small art/pictures
- maker a larger picture/art appear smaller
- frames out portions of the picture/art you might not want showing and highlight what you want
- adds colour around your picture/ art since Passepartout come in many different colours and shapes too
- changes the look of your picture/art whenever you feel like it

They are a lot of fun once you get the hang of it and go a long way to set a mood for your pictures / art, from light & airy, to dark & moody or fun & playful. So just buy a few in different sizes and colours and have fun!

No, that is not possible. This is ONLY the passe-partout, not a picture frame.
