If the mat is not made according to Japanese standards, is it not pesticide-free? I have read that in China almost all of these tatami mats are treated with pesticides. Can you guarantee that it is harmless to health? Or that it is pesticide-free?

I don't know about peticide treatment, without which half of humanity would be eating cow manure, after which these
tatamis stink quite strongly and ecologically. I had to leave them in the balcony until they were finally collected for return :D
