Well after 24 hours of non stop use at level 2 my Tizio 35 hasn't overheated or turned itself off. It's not even especially warm to the touch. If you're absolutely sure you're using a 35w bulb and your lamp keeps shutting off I'd suggest bringing it back.

Oh. Ok. I have the same lamp and bulb type as you do , my bulb is made by Phillips. It is also 35w (=50w). I haven't noticed any strange behavior yet. After seeing your question I will do a stress test with my lamp for 24 Hours at lamp level 2. If anything odd happens I'll let you know. I've only had the lamp since last week so I can't really tell you if that's a common problem or not. I hope not... PS (My Tizio has been on since the past hour at level 2, it isn't especially warm yet)...
