Are both filled with the same amounts, or can you choose to fill one less than the other if you have 2 different aged cats e.g. 3 month old cat and 3 year old cat?

The lever in the middle is adjustable. It may take a few test runs until you can control the right amount of left/right. But whether the cat that should get more will always go right is the other question :)
