But this is not really an air conditioner but rather a humidifier?

Helpful answer

No.

The Evapolar is based on the principle of evaporative cooling. Water evaporates inside the Evapolar. The energy required for evaporation is extracted from the ambient air in the form of thermal energy. Incidentally, this is one of the oldest and most proven cooling methods we know.

The humidity is thus increased - making it both an air conditioner and a humidifier, the former being the main task of the device, which it also masters excellently.

That's what I was wondering. It turns out that it cools the air by humidifying it.
According to the manufacturer, it is not usable above 70% humidity. So in my opinion, it's a cooling humidifier and not an air conditioner.

Tip: Instead of water, fill with ice cubes (e.g. from the petrol station, supermarket, etc.) This not only removes the heat of evaporation from the air, but also the heat for the solid-liquid phase transition.
