I don't know about laminate floors, but the unit has no problems with a lot of cat hair and long women's hair.

Laminate floors should not be a problem. Simply wipe the floor at the point where the machine was stopped.
Hair should not be a problem. Just open the lid (above the rollers) from time to time and remove the hair and dust.
