W-LAN is only required for control via iPhone or other mobiles. You can also simply operate it by hand.

The robot itself has buttons that you can use to control it if you don't have wifi and therefore don't want to use the app. It is also possible to use the devices without the iRobot Home app. However, the handling is limited. For example, various functions such as creating a schedule, room organisation and room-to-room navigation are not possible.
