does it work with homekit from apple?
Short answer: No.
The kettle can NOT be created as a Homekit device in Apple's Home app, so that you then have a device in the Home app on the iPhone / iPad that you can switch on and off in this way. Accordingly, it cannot be used in the Homekit/Apple automations. However, what is possible without any problems, but only via IFTTT, is the control and corresponding automation via voice (Siri). In the same way, it can also be controlled with Alexa from Amazon via voice. In the Google Home app and with Google Assistant, it also works without IFTTT.
Longer answer:
The kettle has its own app, which also doesn't look too bad by now, and always works reliably. There, you can create times when the kettle turns on, set the desired temperature, see how much water is still in it, etc.
The integration into a SmartHome works without problems either via Google Home (simply connect to the account to be created at Smarter, the manufacturer of the kettle), or via IFTTT.
Since I work on the topic of "SmartHome for tenants" as a sideline, there are many devices from many manufacturers in my household. For example, in the morning I say "Hey Siri, boil the water" or "Hey Google, switch on the kettle" and it starts. But I can also say "good morning" to Siri or Google, and then lamps from Philips Hue and Ikea go on, the blinds from Ikea go up, the Google Home or Sonos speakers play my desired radio station, and the kettle starts. All without any problems using Google Home or, in the case of Apple, IFTTT. The only thing I have to remember is to fill the kettle with enough water the night before... :-)
Unfortunately, I'm not sure about that as I don't use the iKettle in my house where I have Homekit.... but it works with Siri, so if Homekit is not yet available, it's only a matter of time. :)
