Roborock S5 Max
Robot vacuum
Hello together What are the experiences with soaped wooden floors? Does the robot not scratch the floor over time? How is the mopping function? Thank you very much for your feedback.
We also don't have a soaped wooden floor but ceramic tiles. We are very satisfied with the suction function. We are not completely satisfied with the mopping. As has already been said, it does not wipe at the edges. We have now ordered wipes from Amazon which, according to the description, should wipe right to the edge. We haven't tried it out yet. What also bothers me a bit is the fact that you can't put any cleaning agent in the tank and that the replacement cloths and other accessories are too expensive in CH. Despite everything... I am glad to have this appliance. Vacuuming is definitely not one of my hobbies.
Hello
I can only praise the Roborock S5 max as well. However, I only have laminate, carpet and stone/tile floors.
Vacuuming works really well, the dust bin is big enough and the Robbie climbs into almost every room (as our house often has small steps between the rooms). The battery power is sufficient even for large areas and with the repeat function you can also vacuum several times if not everything goes away the first time. We have 2 dogs and a cat, and it manages the hair quite well. I couldn't find any scratches, the big brush is very soft and the "feeler" brush is made of elastomer, so it shouldn't scratch anything. You only have to vacuum by hand where the S5 max can't reach.
The wiping is still not optimal, because
a) The edges of the rooms are not wiped because the wipe has an edge / does not go all the way to the edge.
b) You are not supposed to use a wiping additive, so you can only use water, which gets cold quickly because it is not heated.
So although the tank is very large compared to its predecessors and the S5 max already pumps the water into the cloth, the wiping still needs improvement.
If you ignore the edge and only have smooth floors and don't want to wipe away many stains but rather the remaining dust, then it's fine. But wiping is not what you expect. If you read the reviews, they reflect that. I already knew that the wiping function wasn't that great, so I'm still satisfied. The only thing that annoys me is that with the water tank and the wiping cloth, the S5 max gets stuck on some of our small thresholds, which it manages without (i.e. only suction mode) without any problems.
What is most in need of improvement, in my opinion, is the app, because it sometimes "hangs" but there is an update every now and then and it gets better.
Conclusion: Vacuuming very good, no scratches for me, wiping well, but it works. I'm happy because I really have less housework, I wouldn't have thought that before I experienced it myself - and the thing also vacuums when no one is at home!
I wouldn't give it away anymore :-)
I have no experience with soaped wooden floors. But the vacuum cleaner is really great. It works very reliably almost every day. The flat is always clean. I have porcelain stoneware floors. So there's no problem with scratches anyway. But since the vacuum cleaner vacuums quite thoroughly, I don't think there are any big problems with scratches. The mopping function is very good. It only doesn't wipe away very stubborn, dried-on stains. That is rarely the case. Conclusion: I practically never vacuum or mop by hand anymore. I wouldn't give it away again;)
