Hello Catherine, ice must not be crushed with this appliance, granitas are best made with an ice crusher.

Granitas are not really my thing, but slushi or a slightly more liquid (softer) sorbet come very close. I'm very happy with it, I also have a compressor machine, but I haven't needed it since the Njnja
