Is the device loud? Can you do something in the basement without damaging your hearing? Does the unit (incl. fan) switch off automatically when the set humidity is reached?

I find the volume of the device pleasant. One radio and you don't hear it at all.
Automatic switch-off: Yes and Yes. Only switches on again when it gets too damp. Sucks only 1.5W in standby.
Can only recommend the device.
