Is the beep signal very loud? Can I turn it down or switch it off? I am looking for an alternative to the piston machine as it is too loud and wakes up the children, which is not so great at 5 o'clock in the morning.
Justified question, Gosia Meier. The sound is as loud as a normal alarm clock, i.e. loud, and it rings for a whole minute! It will wake the children in the same room, but probably not in the adjoining room. As far as I know, this beep cannot be set or turned off. You have to go to the pot and press the button. It bothered me so much without children that I wanted to remove the beeper. Because I couldn't, I wrapped it in cotton wool with tape around it. Now it is hardly audible. The beeper is a mistake on the part of the developers anyway. The pot itself switches off the heating when the coffee is brewed. So it doesn't need a beep. If there is to be a beep, then only for 1 second and/or a light-emitting diode that indicates the end of the coffee brewing process. A kettle doesn't have a beeper either because it switches itself off. And so to the model: buy the simple model with only one button. The instructions for the model with a display and 3 buttons are maddening. After all, the preparation is quick, so a clock with a starter is superfluous. In itself, this machine is really good, precisely because it switches itself off and is also energy-efficient.
I never need the alarm clock itself, but the end sound can be adjusted to make it quiet.
