Midea Porta Split

Not a question, but a point to note: The first version (2024/25) has a rather unsightly design flaw. The filter in the condensation tray inside the unit was designed with too fine a mesh. As a result, dirt accumulates there over time (probably more quickly if you have pets), which then gets trapped. The consequence is that the condensation can no longer be pumped out. The inner tray fills up and the appliance then displays the error message ‘P1’. After manually draining the water from the bottom right-hand corner, this error message disappears. Midea has confirmed to me that this is a ‘technical issue’ and that the appliance can be sent in for repair under warranty. This is, of course, rather inconvenient at over 35 degrees. But I’ll sort it out as soon as it cools down a bit. Opening the Midea unit yourself to clean the filter whilst it’s still under warranty is not recommended, as this will void the warranty. After that, I suppose you could give it a go. I thought I’d mention this here in case others have noticed the same thing. The newer version (presumably from the 2026 production year onwards) shouldn’t have this problem anymore. Whether they’ll fit this one in during the repair, I’ve no idea. It would be nice if they did, though. Otherwise, you’ll just have the problem again sooner or later. We’ll see.
