We have just put the new humidifier into operation...after a few minutes there is an unpleasant loud noise...what is the reason for this? The device is advertised as being very quiet.

However, this should not actually be the case. The unit has 2 levels, the fan is naturally louder on the high level, but the low level on our unit is so quiet that it is not a problem even in the bedroom. The loud motor noise may be a warranty issue; I would contact Stadler customer service about this.
