Please bear in mind that the water tank has to be removed from the back. So I doubt that the machine is easy to operate in the kitchen cupboard. And the thing is much heavier than usual Nespresso machines, so pushing it in and out quickly is tedious.

I absolutely agree with Naquada. It needs about 40 cm. But it is most beautiful freestanding. :-)

It must be at least 39.5 cm when the lever is open at the top. However, this is certainly not user-friendly, as the lever cannot be grasped properly. This appliance is a visual treat and should be free-standing in the kitchen :)
