Ours seems to be aligned. Only when we tried to fit the waffle plates there was a small issue, but it was because we had tried to fit the bottom plate to the top. Once we realised it was all good again. Not sure this helps…

We were not able to test this product, however, if this prevents the correct use of the device. It is possible that the product is defective.
