The B17 Narrow Imperial is another variant of the classic B17 design, featuring a distinctive elongated cutout. Originally conceived and registered by Brooks over a century ago, a model named B86 Imperial is described in the J.B. Brooks & Co. catalog from 1890, highlighting its unique shape as "a reliable preventive measure to relieve the perineal area." Another notable feature of the B17 Narrow Imperial is the perforations along the lower edge of the leather sides, which are laced together with a shoelace. This can be adjusted to maintain the shape of the saddle and ensure long-term comfort. This lateral fine-tuning of the B17 Narrow Imperial is, of course, in addition to the usual tensioning mechanism that is well-known in Brooks saddles.
