Are these pedals compatible with cleats / SPD-SL system? I mean the cleats Shimano SPD-SL SM-SH11 .

The pedals don't really have a platform to use them with normal shoes. For this purpose I would rather buy a combination pedal, such as the Shimano PD EH500. The click system is the normal one from Shimano, so it should fit with the SH 56.
