The new Shimano XTR, XT, and SLX 12spd Hyperglide + chains operate differently than other products on the market. Therefore, the Wolf Tooth engineers developed a completely new tooth profile to ensure optimal chain guidance and durability when using this new chain technology. The new HG + chain interacts quite differently with the chainring compared to a traditional Wide/Narrow design. Wolf Tooth engineers spent a lot of time understanding how the system works and designing a new tooth profile optimized for this system. The specially designed tooth profile ensures the smooth operation of the HG + drivetrain with the legendary chain guidance from Wolf Tooth and prevents premature wear of the ring and chain that can be caused by non-optimized profiles.
