I can't give you a definitive answer. In any case, you have a 2-year warranty. I took the extension and mine has been running perfectly for 3 years now. Not all the time, of course, because we use it on holiday or at a party when more drinks need to be cooled. But then it really has to work a lot :) So far I can only recommend it and you could have bought it for almost another CHF 100 less than I paid at the time.

5 months is too long, it's not a fridge, it's made for travelling, mine's fine.
