In the event that you have 8x 1.5 volt rechargeable batteries in the device, it would need 12 volts. However, I would remove the batteries and charge them with an external charger.
I have 8 x 1.5 volt batteries in my 8026W and they last forever;-)

The device only works with batteries, has no internal rechargeable battery and is therefore not rechargeable.
