I have a new Mac Mini with Thunderbolt and USB-C. It doesn't work with the DP to Thunderbolt cable. I have now seen that the maximum resolution is not supported. How do I get this to work? Which cable do I need?

To achieve the full 5120x1440 resolution on an M1 Mac, you need to have the latest version of macOS installed, the display connected with an 8K Displayport to USB-C cable and then you need the SwitchResX software from madrau.com. It definitely works, but just plugging in any cable is not enough.

I connected the screen with the cable Club 3D CAC-1557 to a Dell XPS 17 with nVidia 1650ti graphics card, also Thunderbolt 3. Works perfectly.
It needs an 8K capable cable, as 5120 are larger than the 3840 at 4K.
It needs a graphics card that can swallow 8K, most UHD onboard cards don't deliver that!
