The PolyTribloc allows for the selection of either key or push operation before installation. When the door is closed, turning the key in the locking direction extends all three bolts and blocks both the latch and the bolts. Unlocking occurs with a turn of the key in the opening direction, retracting all three bolts. To lock the mechanism with less effort, after a half turn of the key in the locking direction, the locking can be activated with a push motion upwards. After that, the key only needs to be turned to the withdrawal position.

With a push motion upwards, the additional bolts extend. A turn of the key in the locking direction ejects the main bolt. Thus, the latch and additional bolts are blocked. A turn of the key in the opening direction retracts the main bolt. The additional bolts and latch are retracted with a downward push motion.
