Can anyone confirm or has anyone successfully tested whether the battery in the compressor can be charged when it is connected to the power supply and set to battery mode? There are contradictory answers here.

I was surprised that there is no battery included. You have to buy them and the charger separately. I think charging the battery is only possible via the charger, i.e. not directly on the compressor, but I'm not 100% sure.
My unit was delivered with a Schuko plug and WITHOUT a CH adapter.
