It works perfectly for me (see also my evaluation) and I have extended the bracket to the maximum. When extending, just make sure that the inner rail is still held with both screws. I measured this specially (it is advisable to make a mark before mounting). I think the weight is less of a problem than the surface area that the solar panel offers to the wind.
