Question about Philips Hue Dimmer Switch 2021

I have been given a Philipps Iris (approx. 2 years old) and would like to switch it on and off as normal using a switch without the WIFI / Hue app. I don't know anything about the system yet, is this operation the right one? The app is a cool gimmick for parties, but I don't want to have to switch on the WIFI in the middle of the night to be able to use the bedside lamp. Thanks for your advice!

Phillips uses the Zigbee protocol to control the lamps.
Each Zigbee lamp can also be controlled without a bridge. ( 1:1 connection )

Hi,
Yes, it works well, I have it in my office room, if you don't have a hub you won't have a problem, but as soon as you do an installation with hub and switch, then I would integrate to avoid problems (for example, the hub doesn't find the lamps and doesn't switch on the same ones).

Hi Jessie, you can connect and use the dimmer switch with the lamp without the app and bridge. Best regards Bea
