I installed them for the first time this year and yes, I also attached them through the bottom. I left a bit more of the net to close the slits at the bottom of the sheet so that no pellet or insect can get into the room.
No, only side fastening. Slightly weighted at the bottom, the curtain rests a little on the threshold. So far, no flies have gotten in, it works quite well.
