What happens when the battery is empty? Is there any warning or can the lock no longer be opened from one moment to the next? I need it as a bike lock and that would be fatal.

The instructions say:

Battery low
If the lock emits an "S.O.S" warning after opening (3x short tone, 3x long tone, 3x short tone),
the battery must be changed.
After a few warnings, the lock can no longer be closed until the battery is changed to prevent accidental locking out.
