Product details
Since the early days of the IDF, the Dodge WC series from World War II was widely used, with surplus trucks sourced from many places to fight in the wars of 1948 and 1956. In the 1960s, these old vehicles began to show signs of wear, and more trucks of this class were needed. As a replacement, another Dodge product was used: the Power Wagon. Some civilian, closed Power Wagon WM300s had already been in service for a while, mainly captured from Egypt, but the newly delivered Power Wagon was the WM300 in the soft-top version. This was an affordable, simple export model, similar to the M601, which was supplied to allied countries under the Military Defense Assistance Program. Starting in 1966, the trucks arrived in Israel as CKD units (Completely Knocked Down) to be assembled in the new AIL (Automotive Industries Ltd.) factory in Nazareth and completed with Israeli parts. The very early cargo bed was heavily based on the old WC51 design from World War II but was quickly replaced by a new Israeli design that was much more practical, cheaper, and easier to build, which later also found use in the successor Nun Nun M325. The first combat deployment of the new Power Wagon (also known as Command Car) by the IDF took place in the Six-Day War of 1967, but it became widely known only during the Yom Kippur War of 1973. There were also some foreign users like Uganda, Kenya, and the South Lebanese Army. These robust and reliable trucks were highly valued by the troops for various operations, although they were very spartan and uncomfortable vehicles. The model represents the standard variant as a truck with a winch. Main features of the kit: - Over 160 plastic parts - Photo-etched parts - Optional canvas roof - Highly detailed interior and chassis - Decals for 5 painting/marking options, printed by Cartograf.
