Multiple Game of the Year winner! Klaus Teuber's Catan (The Settlers of Catan) is an award-winning game that paved the way for a new wave of German board games. Players take on the role of settlers colonizing the ever-changing island of Catan.

In each round, the active player rolls the dice. The roll indicates which areas produce resources. If the player has a village or city adjacent to that area, they receive cards. After that, players can trade cards with each other as they wish. Finally, the active player can use their cards to build new roads, villages at the ends of roads, and cities in place of villages. Development cards, representing life improvements, can also be acquired.
