Advent Calendar "Graz"

Graz in Styria is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and noteworthy cities in Europe. The magnificent cohesive old town comprises Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance, and Art Nouveau styles and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with Eggenberg Palace. The Graz Cathedral is integrated into the city center. The Austrian city of Graz, located on the Mur River, is home to a significant university. The Karl-Franzens-University Graz was founded in 1585, making it the second oldest university in Austria. The city of Graz has received many awards, including being named the European Capital of Culture in 2003, receiving the European Prize, and being designated a City of Human Rights. Known far beyond the borders of Styria, the famous Styrian pumpkin seed oil, locally referred to as Kernöl, is a healthy delicacy that belongs in every kitchen.

Our Advent calendar features the main square with the clock tower on the Schlossberg. The clock tower is the landmark of Graz. This 28-meter-high clock tower houses three bells with names such as the Hour Bell, Fire Bell, and the Sinner's Bell, also known as the Rag Bell by the locals. Many typical Graz specialties can be found behind the windows of our Advent calendar as little pictures. Festive surprises also emerge upon opening. The windows are carefully integrated into the architecture, preserving the beauty of the image even when all the windows are opened.
