Southern Nile Delta, around 3000 BC – Men-Nefer (Greek Memphis) is on its way to becoming the most populous city in the world and was already a religious center at that time. In the eponymous expert game, players take on tasks that were typical of Egyptian culture: they gain knowledge in the houses of life to navigate boats across the Nile for trade, offer sacrifices in the Great Temple of Ptah, embalm the bodies of the deceased to prepare them for the afterlife, and bury them in the necropolis to erect magnificent sphinxes and contribute to the construction of the pyramids. Additionally, they must always be mindful of how they shape their earthly existence, as access to the heavenly paradise in the afterlife is granted only to those whose hearts are lighter than a feather.

Men-Nefer is a tightly interwoven optimization game with numerous ways to collect prestige points. However, it also emphasizes interaction among players, as visiting houses of life becomes costly where others have already been. Only those who find the right balance – both between heart and feather and between income and expenses – will win the game.
