Modern diesel locomotives are a staple in freight and shunting operations, and the distinctive DE 18 from Vossloh is no exception. The PIKO designers have once again succeeded in brilliantly translating a prototype into the H0 scale. The result is a model that excellently captures the overall appearance and characteristics of the DE 18, featuring a wealth of details, including highly realistic engravings of the ventilation grilles and bogies that provide outstanding optical depth. The powerful motor with two flywheels ensures smooth operation, while the traction is enhanced by two diagonally arranged traction tires. When combined with a digital decoder, many prototype-like lighting functions can be activated. The attractive cab and control desk lighting is already a standard feature in PIKO's new designs. For easy retrofitting of a decoder, a modern PluX22 interface is conveniently available on the tidy circuit board.
