Product details
The success story of the E 44 series began in 1930 with the prototype locomotive E 44 001 built by Siemens-Schuckert. This was followed in 1932 by the first series of axle-less electric locomotives with single axle drive in Germany. The PIKO E 44 also has a success story. As part of this project, the well-known prototype locomotive E 44 001, later 144 001-5, was implemented as a mass-produced model for the first time. The miniatures of both the prototypes and the series locomotives shine with their precisely scaled representation. Equally sharp and precise engravings on the body provide enormous plastic depth and emphasize the excellent overall impression. This is continued in the chassis area with numerous additional parts on the distinctive bogies. Despite being identical in model quality, the differences between the prototype locomotives have been implemented in the model with the greatest possible attention to detail. Technically, the model leaves little to be desired: the drive is both proven and robust, and a PluX22 interface allows for easy retrofitting of a digital decoder. In this configuration, for example, switching the machine room and driver's cab lighting is possible. The factory-equipped variants with a PSD XP sound decoder featuring vehicle sound bring the typical "growl" of the axle drive to the model railway.
