New design concept. The V 180 059 was introduced in 1965 as the first special design featuring a new design concept with a roof and front wall made of fiberglass-reinforced polyester and a glare-free front window design created by steeply inclined front windows. In addition to a long-term test for the usability of plastics, the aim was also to achieve a more attractive appearance. In 1966, two more machines followed with fiberglass-reinforced polyester cabs. The model represents the 118 131-2 of the DR in Era IV.
