In 2019, a new high-performance snow blower was put into operation by ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG. The machine, which is used to clear snow-covered railway tracks, is equipped with two powerful 793 kW (approximately 1,100 HP) MAN twelve-cylinder engines. One unit drives the vehicle, while the other is used to operate the blower. The snow blower can handle up to 10,000 tons of snow per hour with a throwing distance of 40 meters. It is approved for a speed of up to 100 km/h for transfer trips. A 180° rotating turret allows for turning in place, enabling it to tackle even the most challenging alpine weather conditions.
