Diesel locomotive 335 230 of the German Federal Railways. The German Federal Railways early on relied on smaller shunting locomotives for the shunting of passenger and freight cars in stations. A further development of the Köf 11, featuring power transmission via drive shafts and additional axle gearing, was presented by Gmeinder in 1965. From this version, initially designated as Köf 12, 251 shunting locomotives were delivered to the German Federal Railways as series 333. To enable personnel savings, a large number of the locomotives were equipped with radio remote control starting in the late 1980s. These locomotives were designated as series 335. Over time, the locomotives have gone through several color variations, with Orient Red becoming the standard color from 1986 onwards.
