Since Börje Jönsson founded his transport company in 1954, the path has been set for expansion. Early on, the Scania 111 was also used in international transport – the Hamburg location has long been part of this. Particularly, international transport saw significant growth in the late 1950s, becoming the most important business area in the 1960s. When Scania introduced the progressive front-engine generation of the "110" series in 1968, WIKING quickly responded to Scania's market efforts and first presented the corresponding model in 1971. Numerous combinations followed, successfully appealing to many WIKING model enthusiasts in Scandinavia. For this reason, the traditional model makers utilized the Scania front-engine generation in various combinations as trailer and semi-trailer combinations – many of which featured container loading. Later, it helped the model makers that the new "111" series introduced in 1975 only had a subtly nuanced facelift character, allowing WIKING to update the model types in 1977, resulting in a variety of models well into the 1980s.
