Mediatek Dimensity 9000: Xiaomi, Oppo, Honor and Vivo install the 4nm chip first
Chinese chipmaker Mediatek has announced that the first smartphones with its new Dimensity 9000 processor are coming from Xiaomi, Oppo, Honor and Vivo.
The smartphones are scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2022. The special feature of the Dimensity 9000 is that it is the first smartphone processor manufactured in the 4-nanometer process. Simplified, the fewer nanometers, the more powerful the chip.

Exactly which smartphones the Dimensity 9000 will be in, the manufacturers have not yet revealed. The statements in the press release give at least rough hints. For example, Oppo's Henry Duan is looking forward to the processor being in the next Find X flagship model. That's likely to be the Oppo Find X4, with the Pro variant reportedly packing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
Xiaomi's Lu Weibing announced that the Dimensity 9000 will be fitted in the Redmi K50 series. While the K series is only for China, some of the models have been released in Europe under the Poco brand in the past. Vivo and Honor only announced that they will install the processor and did not give any further details about possible models.
First benchmark numbers
Prior to the manufacturers' announcement, the first benchmark results of the Dimensity 9000 have also surfaced. The new smartphone processor leaves the competition behind in a test. The first benchmark figures have appeared on the Chinese short message service Weibo.
In the AI benchmark, which particularly examines the performance in terms of artificial intelligence, the Dimensity 9000 is said to leave the also new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 behind. The processor from Mediatek achieves 692.5 points in the test. The one from Qualcomm only manages 560 points. The previous leader in this benchmark was the Google Tensor from the Pixel 6. In comparison, both new processors gain significantly. On the other hand, it is only one benchmark test.
