Poco F4 GT presented: Affordable smartphone with gaming keys
The Poco F4 GT is comparatively cheap for its equipment. Unique selling points are two special keys that are supposed to be especially helpful when gaming.
Now that Xiaomi has discovered the premium segment for itself, the sub-brand Poco takes over the role of the price driver. The F4 GT might currently have the lowest list price of smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
A smartphone for gaming
The Poco F4 GT has so-called "pop-up triggers". These are additional buttons on the edge of the smartphone that are supposed to make controlling games easier. According to Xiaomi, they are tested on more than "100 popular games" and are supposed to increase the responsiveness, among other things, since the operation is not only done via the touchscreen.
When gaming, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with a clock rate of up to 3.0 gigahertz and the Adreno-730 GPU should ensure smooth playback. Xiaomi installs a cooling system with two chambers in the smartphone so that the Poco F4 GT does not get too hot.
The 210-gram Poco F4 GT comes in two storage variants with eight gigabytes of working memory and 128 gigabytes of internal storage or twelve gigabytes of working memory and 256 gigabytes of internal storage. The smartphone runs Android 12 ex-factory and is equipped with "MIUI 13 for Poco" as the user interface.
Large display and fast charging
The 6.67-inch AMOLED display of the Poco F4 GT has a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels. The refresh rate reaches up to 120 hertz and the color display covers the P3 color space.
The Poco F4 GT's 4700 mAh battery should be fully charged in 17 minutes with the included 120 watt power adapter. Should you still want to charge the smartphone overnight out of habit, AdaptiveCharging prevents overcharging. The technology keeps the charge level at 80 percent until your wake-up time approaches.
Compared with other flagship smartphones, the cameras are notable. The main camera should deliver very good photos with its 64 megapixels, but I am not so sure about the 8-megapixel wide-angle and 2-megapixel macro camera. The front camera should manage decent selfies with a resolution of 20 megapixels.
Price and availability
The Poco F4 GT comes in three colors: black, silver and yellow. In Germany, the recommended retail price is available at 599.90 or 699.90 Euros depending on the storage variant. No information was available for Switzerland and Austria when this article was published.
