Buy it only if you can stand coil whine issues.

While the PSU per se is a functional, modular and nice looking, its coil whine is unbearable.

Corsair's decision to cheap out on quality electronic is disgusting. Paying this kind of money I would expect a flawless product.

Pro

  • Nice design
  • Modular

Contra

  • Absurd coil whine

What do you mean by "coil"? Did you mean fan? I bought the same one and I can't hear absolutely any noise coming out of it. Your unit maybe faulty (at this point you should already know about that, can you post an update?).

By "coil whine" i'm referring to the sound that resonating electronic components make while under load.
It has nothing to do with the sound the fan makes.

It's a high pitched buzzing sound that gets worse with the intensity
of programs/games that the computer has to run.
You can find examples of coil whine if you look 'em up on YouTube.

I ended up buying a Seasonic Prime Ultra Titanium PSU and giving this one to a friend of mine that has a hard time hearing high frequency sounds (years of working in constructions and using heavy machinery).

Hello, I am back here to say that I switched to full liquid cooling recently and I was able to hear noises from the PSU after that. The noise comes under load and you the problem is proably the same as you had, but I noticed that by stopping the fan forcefully, it mostly vanishes, so I think that in my case is the fan that is the problem. I will investigate my case further, but I definetly changed my opinion on this PSU now. Thanks for your review here and I was also considering switching to Seasonic, Corsair let me down on this one =(
