Product details

No matter what you're shooting, the Canon EOS R5 lets you get creative in a whole new way, with 45-megapixel stills and up to 20fps continuous shooting with electronic shutter or up to 12fps with mechanical shutter and full-frame 8K video in RAW format. Those shooting portraits, travel and weddings will love the camera's AF system - programmed using deep learning AI to recognise people's heads, faces and eyes and accurately track focus. The EOS R5 also recognises cats and dogs and even birds - ideal for wildlife photography. Exceptional 12-bit 8K RAW video can be recorded, and the 4:2:2 10-bit 4K footage with frame rates up to 120 fps is suitable for excellent slow-motion shots. Wireless technology allows you to transfer images directly to image.canon, an FTP server and a mobile device. With 45 megapixel full-frame photos, you can capture the finest details and achieve an impressive dynamic range. The maximum ISO sensitivity of ISO 51,200 and AF that works down to -6 EV ensure first-class low-light properties with this mirrorless full-format camera. Whether wedding, portrait, travel, photojournalism or landscape photography - this mirrorless 8K camera is ideal for every application. Thanks to its continuous shooting at up to 20 fps, it is also ideal for wildlife and sports photography. To capture fleeting moments, the camera offers up to 20 fps with the silent electronic shutter and up to 12 fps with the mechanical shutter - with full AF tracking and a focusing speed of just approx. 0.05 seconds. The high-speed DIGIC X processor enables image processing at a new level.

The Canon EOS R5 is not just a very powerful camera on paper. In the test lab, it was one of the few models to be awarded the "Super" seal. Both photographers and film-makers should be delighted with Canon's professional mirrorless model. It is difficult to emphasise individual plus points...

Color FotoSingle testReleaseOctober 2024

As we have not yet been able to test the camera extensively due to time constraints, our summary is limited to the image quality for the time being. And this is positive. Although the R5 Il is weaker in the JPEG setting at ISO 3200 and ISO 6400, it is generally better than the R5 at higher sensitivities, albeit without any significant qualitative leaps...

With the SL3, Leica has created a very good full-frame camera that impresses above all with its high resolution. The autofocus still lags behind the competition from Canon, Nikon and Sony; firmware updates could bring improvements here. The best competitor models are also ahead in terms of continuous shooting and some features...

Color Foto11 KB-Kameras im RAW-TestReleaseSeptember 2023

Canon's R5 benefits from a gentler image tuning through RAW first. Fine detail improves especially in structures with high frequencies and low contrasts and more at higher sensitivities. Higher noise levels at ISO 1600 are well controlled so that the images find a good balance. Even with more denoising, RAWs offer advantages over JPEGs from the camera.
