The test clearly shows that the market has changed significantly in the meantime. GoPro is no longer automatically the sole benchmark. DJI has caught up massively in terms of accessories, user interface and overall integration. At the same time, manufacturers are increasingly adopting different approaches...

Product details
The Osmo Action 6 combines an innovative variable aperture with a square 1/1.1-inch sensor.
With a maximum aperture of f/2.0, the Osmo Action 6 is particularly good in low light conditions and delivers significantly improved image quality. In combination with the macro lens, you can take breathtaking close-ups of food, pets and much more with a very shallow depth of field at a short shooting distance.
The Osmo Action 6 is equipped with a 1/1.1-inch sensor that allows you to shoot at up to 4K/120 frames per second in 4:3 format and delivers clear details even in low light and high-contrast scenes.
The Osmo Action 6 is equipped with the square sensor developed by DJI and for the first time features 4K Custom Mode, which allows you to shoot first and then crop. Free cropping in different aspect ratios gives you more flexibility for your creative work.
With the larger sensor, larger aperture and noise reduction technology, the Osmo Action 6 enables SuperNight mode, which allows you to shoot pure, detailed video at up to 4K/60fps even in low light conditions.
10-bit D-Log M preserves highlight and shadow detail for more flexibility in post-production. The Osmo Action 6 also offers an on-screen D-Log M preview for real-time colour and exposure monitoring.
Osmo Action 6 natively supports slow motion recording at up to 4K/120 frames per second and can intelligently produce up to 32× Super Slow Motion at 1080p for smoother, more detailed images.
8K recording is limited to an aspect ratio of 16:9. EIS is limited to RockSteady/RockSteady+ and FOV options are limited to Standard, Natural Wide and Wide. Film sound and quality priority are not available. Max. ISO: 12800 (normal colour) or 6400 (D-Log M). Downloading and editing 8K footage in the DJI Mimo app is currently only supported on the iPhone 15 Pro series and newer models; support for other devices is subject to future app updates.

- Also great for vertical videos
- Excellent battery life
- 8K videos in 16:9
- Image noise in low light and 8K
The DJI Osmo Action 6 is an action cam that, when tested, is ideal for filming in landscape and portrait format. Thanks to the almost square 1/1.1-inch sensor, UHD videos are possible in both orientations without having to remove the camera from the mount. Even 8K is possible in landscape format...

- Square sensor for high flexibility
- Variable aperture
- Sharp, bright OLED displays
- Good video quality in a small form factor
- Enormously versatile
- No 1/4-20 thread

- more flexible due to variable aperture & square sensor
- Many accessories
- Compulsory coupling with app
- Hardly any image improvements compared to predecessors
The improvements in this year's Osmo Action will not please everyone equally: creators, vloggers etc. might be most willing to switch to the Action 6, benefiting from more comfort, more close-up sharpness (selfie vlogs) and more variability in editing. For holiday and occasional filmmakers, the even better stabilisation can score points, the new sensor and the variable aperture are less groundbreaking...
