With the Fritz!Box 5490, AVM offers a model for direct access to an Active Optical Network (AON) for the first time. The Fritz!Box 5490 combines everything that has made the proven flagship for DSL, the Fritz!Box 7490, so successful: Gigabit speed, state-of-the-art hardware, free Fritz!Apps, and the variety of Fritz!OS.

Modern WLAN AC+N ensures high speeds of up to 1,300 MBit/s in the wireless home network. The Fritz!Box 5490 supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz simultaneously. This results in noticeably greater range and higher transmission rates in WLAN. The modern processor configuration and 4 ultra-fast Gigabit LAN ports make the high-speed network perfect.

For comfortable HD telephony, the new Fritz!Box 5490 features a telephone system with answering machines, an integrated DECT base for up to six cordless phones, and connection options for analog, ISDN, and IP phones.

The Fritz!Box brings all connected USB storage as well as online storage and the content stored on it into the home network. Thanks to the integrated media server with NAS connection, stored movies, music, and images are made available and can be distributed to playback devices via tablet or smartphone, for example. USB 3.0 ensures extra fast data transfer. The Fritz!Box 5490 thus forms a powerful platform for connected multimedia applications such as IPTV, video on demand, or streaming. At the same time, the Fritz!Box 5490 remains very economical in consumption thanks to several eco-mode automations.
