Added value of OM5 technology. The OM5 technology offers a range of improvements over previous quality classes. Previous multimode fibers were optimized for an optical window or wavelength range of 850 nm. Outside of this window, signals are significantly attenuated, requiring Ethernet signals to be transmitted over multiple parallel multimode fibers. For example, 10-Gigabit Ethernet requires two fibers (one fiber for transmitting = Transmit, one for receiving = Receive).
