The USB-C to Mini DisplayPort adapter connects new MacBooks with USB-C ports to the Apple Cinema Display with a Mini DisplayPort connection. Simply plug this adapter into the USB-C port of the MacBook, and you can connect your Apple Cinema Display via a Mini DisplayPort cable to display photos, videos, and other media on the large screen. This adapter works with plug and play (no driver is required) and supports a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 (4K UHD). The adapter is not compatible with the Apple 30" Cinema Display or the Apple 27" Thunderbolt Display.
